A Word From Our
2012 Go Red for Women Chairperson
Sheila D. Schwartz, CFRE
Chief Philanthropic Officer
ProMedica
Welcome to the 2012 Toledo Go Red for Women Luncheon! ProMedica is excited to serve as the 2012 Toledo Go Red for Women Cause Sponsor! It is an honor to represent the many fine doctors, nurses and employees of ProMedica, and to serve alongside the American Heart Association in supporting women's heart health.
Since 2004, this movement has been educating women, changing behavior and providing tools to promote healthy living and prevention of cardiovascular disease for Daughters, Sisters, Mothers, Aunts, Grand Mothers and friends in Northwest Ohio. The earlier women strive to live heart healthy lives, the more likely that they can prevent heart disease completely in their life. However, there is still much work to be done. Today, Toledo remains ranked as one of the ten least heart friendly cities for women.
Heart disease is still the No. 1 killer of women all across America, with women's risk equal to men's. Go Red for Women works to raise awareness among women of the symptoms of heart disease, which vary from that of men. Tell five women about their No. 1 risk, save five women's lives.
There are many ways that you can become involved right now! Consider making a donation using the button on your screen, or become a Go Red for Women Sponsor. Help fund local and national activities that promote awareness, education, research and community programs for women's heart health.
You can also visit www.GoRedForWomen.org to take advantage of the BetterU tool to improve your health and educate yourself about cardiovascular disease. Heart Disease among women can be prevented starting right now! Join me today in the Go Red for Women movement as we reach for freedom from heart disease.
Volunteer Spotlight: Anita Voveris
Make it Your Mission to help in the fight against heart disease in women. Thank you to our many volunteers who, like Anita Voveris, generously dedicate time and energy to American Heart Association!
Anita has been a dedicated volunteer for many years, securing vital sponsorships with Medical Mutual for events such as our Toledo Heart Walk, Go Red for Women Luncheon, and the Glass City Heart Ball. In addition, Anita dedicates her personal time serving on our Board of Directors, Heart Ball Auction Committee and even as an auction donor! Anita also speaks on our behalf as a Volunteer Ambassador. She is even willing to get physical, participating with her husband, Fran, in our Toledo Heart Walk's 10K Run!
Anita has been involved on many levels with our various fundraising efforts through the years, and her leadership, experience and guidance are appreciated by our local staff! Anita is one of many dedicated volunteers willing to donate time, effort and skill to American Heart Association. Without volunteers like Anita, we would not be able to keep our commitment of investing 80% of every dollar directly to our cause initiatives! Will you join our mission today?
